A national first: Casemaker, Kentucky Bar Association Announce Free Unlimited Member Access to vLex US and the AI-powered legal assistant, Vincent

Charlottesville, VA, April 6, 2020Casemaker, the Kentucky Bar Association and global legal research provider vLex today announced a first-of-its-kind affiliation, under the terms of which KBA members will enjoy free, unlimited access to vLex’s industry leading intelligent legal research assistant, Vincent, and to a comprehensive US collection in the vLex Justis platform.

Built on top of vLex’s cloud-based data platform Iceberg, Vincent is the only Artificial Intelligence tool that can analyze legal documents in two languages (English and Spanish) and across 10 countries. Vincent is part of the vLex Justis research platform, which itself includes a global collection of primary law and expansive secondary sources, and is capable of securely integrating a firm’s internal knowledge management resources. The U.S. primary law in vLex Justis is provided by Casemaker.

The KBA has provided its members with free access to the Casemaker legal research service since 2005. Now, in renewing their member benefit agreement, the KBA and Casemaker have expanded their affiliation to include member access to Vincent and vLex. KBA members may access Vincent from the Casemaker4 platform, or if they prefer, from the vLex Justis platform directly from the KBA website.

“We are thrilled to continue our valued relationship with Casemaker, and now to build upon that by offering cutting-edge AI capabilities to our members,” said John Meyers, Executive Director of the KBA. “For smaller firms, in particular, this will be a great equalizer, enabling them to tap into technology previously only available to the very largest firms in the country.”

“Kentucky Bar members will now have the ability to go beyond traditional keyword or Boolean search into a more robust contextual search that begins with Casemaker’s rich content and is accelerated by artificial intelligence,” said Sarah Gorman, Chief Operating Officer at Casemaker.

Lluis Faus, vLex CEO shared that “in all markets, we are seeing rapidly increasing adoption of AI-powered research tools to reduce risk, know more and build better arguments. As lawyers everywhere discover the extraordinary value that comes from incorporating Vincent, we are excited to collaborate with Casemaker to bring Vincent to every member of the Kentucky Bar Association”

Under the terms of an existing agreement, vLex US subscribers globally will continue to receive access to Casemaker’s full collection of U.S. federal and 50-state primary law content. Likewise, Casemaker4 users will retain the ability to search databases of international legal materials provided by vLex.
